I've been asked to talk to the students on Bradford University's BIM module about the barriers to BIM adoption as well as problems in its implementation.

I have some ideas, but I would really appreciate hearing about any specific problems. What are the difficulties that you have had to overcome or have been hampered by?

Some other barriers I have heard include lack of client leadership, lack of capability across the entire supply chain, and quality of models.

I think there are 2 main problems - the first is lack of knowledge by senior management which means they don't see the need for any training.

The second problem is designers not wanting to change the way they have always worked and not understanding why they should.
